Allen holds a Master of Science degree in Counseling from Georgia State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology/Christianity from Mercer University. He has been licensed as a counselor in Georgia since 1996. Since his senior year in College, Allen has worked in many areas of the mental health field including: inpatient, community and correctional, managed care and private practice. Aside from his behavioral health work, he has also held jobs in construction and in the poultry industry, giving him work experience beyond that of the mental health industry. Allen shared that "if you find yourself challenged by painful emotions, relationship problems or negative behavior patters, I can help. Allen enjoys working with individuals, couples and adolescents. Allen is also trained in 'Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing Therapy' (EMDR).
